What you’ll learn:
  • Get to know the basics of ARDUINO programming
  • Control the WS2812 LED light strip using the ESP32 / 8266
  • Creation of a local website to control the LED light strip (HTML, CSS and jQuery)
  • Create and configure ESP web server (everything runs locally on the ESP32 and is presented)
  • Creation of your own alarm function with timestamps
  • Get the timestamp from the NTP server
  • Read and save data from SPIFFS
Description:

The video course is divided into three parts. The first section describes the basics for developing this project. If you already have experience, you can skip straight to the next section on creation and implementation. In this DIY video course we will control an LED light strip via a local web server that runs on the ESP32 / 8266. Furthermore, in the third section, we will develop an alarm function that will wake us up safely and punctually even in the event of a brief power failure. The alarm clock function is implemented in such a way that the LED strip becomes brighter step by step, which slowly illuminates the room. This supports the natural wake-up phase and you can start the day relaxed.

You can recreate this project yourself using the step-by-step instructions . I always provide you with the intermediate results of the Arduino sketch to download so that you can safely get to the result.

I develop the Sunrise alarm clock with the ESP32 and at the end, when the project is finished, I adapt it for the ESP8266 . With this you can recreate this project with your favorite ESP.

The web server and the website are stored on the web server of the ESP so that several people who are in the same WLAN can control the LED light. The input of the alarm function is also controlled centrally so that the light / alarm function can be managed with different end devices.

I will also show you in an optional chapter how you can use a MOSFET to implement an ordinary 12V LED strip in the program logic I have shown. This gives you the opportunity to use an existing LED strip for this project.

We are installing the following components in this practical project.

  • ESP32 / ESP8266
  • WS2812b
  • Capacitor 100-1000µF
  • 220 – 500 ohm resistor

This video course is included :

  • Brief introduction to the Arduino programming language
  • Comprehensive instructions for wiring and programming the weather station
  • Background knowledge about the sensors
  • Description of the program code used (also for beginners)
  • Implementation with the 5V WS2812b LED light strip
  • Bonus chapter : The wiring of a white 12V LED strip using MOSFET control is also discussed. Wiring logic and control via Arduino is also included in an extra chapter.
  • Control of the LED strip via the local WLAN via a specially created website.
  • Self-created alarm function by getting a current timestamp from an NTP server and reading and comparing the saved time on the SPIFFS .

It also contains many explanations, practical examples and references to literature to be deepened. Also very suitable for beginners .

Who this course is for:
  • To all DIY enthusiasts and hobbyists with an interest in technology
  • Step by step instructions to participate and all codes to download for frustration-free programming
